The Guide by R.K Narayan
Yet Another Tale From Malgudi
He felt that all the time had come for him to be serious-to attach values to his own words
His job required him to meet dozens of people every day. One such encounter with a couple whom he received as a tourist completely changed the course of his life. He fell in love with the lady (Rosie). The couple didn't have a good relationship. All they did was occasional talking, they were a couple only in the eyes of society. Rosie was born to a family with a lineage of dace. The very idea of Rosie Dancing was what disrupted the relationship. Rosie's husband, Marco had no respect for dance. Rosie valued her passion worth more than her life but to Marco, it was nothing more than a mere street performance. Raju Utilised the misunderstanding between the couple to get one step closer to Rosie. He seduced her away from her husband, but this came with a very heavy price to pay. Raju's interest in Rosie was exponentially increasing, which tragically led to him losing his shop. Eventually, everything turned against him and Raju was no longer a guide.
