Plot Summary.
You have a beautiful tale in the beginning. You'll surely miss it when it ends. But this end marks the very beginning of the novel. The book is about
the true love between a brother and his sister which has to fall apart due to various reasons.
Saboor is poor. He has to feed two children.

Saboor had already lost a son to the cold winter. Uncle Nabi who works as a chef and personal driver for the wahdati family(A rich family in Kabul), suggests an idea. Saboor takes his children Abdullah, and Pari to their residence where the wahdatis choose Pari. Wahdatis don't have children.
This was an agreement between Saboor and the Wahdatis. But this agreement meant torture for Abdullah.
He was separated from his sister at a very young age. Everyday Abdullah lived in her memory. He preserved her favorite peacock feathers in the hope of getting reunited with her.

Pari grew in the world of rich. She was too small to be able to carry any memory of her real father and mother with her. However, Wahdati's did not have a Peaceful life. Nila wahdati and Suleiman wahdati have a loveless marriage. Very soon tension grew between Mr and Mrs.Wahdati. Mrs wahdati thought that Mr. Wahdati loved Nabi more than her. After some days Mr. Wahdati suffered a stroke. This led Mrs. Wahdati, to migrate to France with Pari.
Those were lonely days but Mrs.Wahdati never told Pari the truth. She hid the fact that she had abandoned her husband in Kabul, the bitter truth about Pari's lineage.
Pari gets married and has three children but the life makes her a widow in her late forties.
Pari always felt that she had a missing piece in her life, which she always searched for. Pari received a phone call from Mr.Markos. She learned that her home was in Kabul. She went there, only to make her thoughts more bitter. She could recollect her childhood. She could picture herself in the house. Later Pari learned about her biological parents from the will left by her uncle Nabi wherein he revealed the truth. Pari set off to America where she found her brother, Abdullah, now suffering from Dementia, he no longer could recollect his only ambition in life. He named his daughter Pari in remembrance of his sister Pari.
