The Alchemist

The shepherd boy learns a lot in his course towards achieving his dream. The experience influences him to such an extent that he becomes an Alchemist himself.




The Alchemist (Portuguese: O Alquimista) is a novel by Brazilian author Paulo Coelho that was first published in 1988. Originally written in Portuguese, it became a widely translated international bestseller.

An Alchemist (in the story) is portrayed as a wise man as if he has attained the power to command nature. He can make the clouds rain, wind breeze on his command.

Experiencing life makes man very wise, the alchemist is born out of the experience .

“My heart is afraid that it will have to suffer,” the boy told the alchemist one night as they looked up at the moonless sky.

“Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself. And that no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dreams.”

These are the original words by Paulo Coelho in his book titled "Alchemist".

He finally makes up his mind to travel. The book tells about his journey through different cities, deserts and other places that he hadn't traveled before.

This is a must book for adventure lovers.

The boy works under a glass merchant where he brings back the owner the lost Fortune.

The whole adventure comes to the peak moment when our hero meets an alchemist.

He is inspired by him.

This entire journey makes him an alchemist.

This book talks about life. Paulo Coelho chooses his words wisely. The casual phrases in the novel are now famous quotes motivating many. 

 

This book is motivating. Please read this book.

My personal suggestion to the ones who don't get the story on one go.
Please don't quit reading, move on. At some juncture, you'll get the story. (this applies to any book you read)
 
The book is titled 'The Alchemist' for a particular reason

1. Transforming one's life through a form of personal alchemy (obviously not the chemical one. XD!)
2. Everyone the boy meets in the story, from the crystal merchant to the Englishman, has the power to realize their personal legend. (this in itself is alchemy)
3. This book made us realize that the crystal seller, Englishman and the other characters had the power to realize their dreams which inspired the Shepard to move on in his life. This could possibly be a message to the readers that they to qualify to realize their dreams.

Golly! This book is worth reading. Its so inspiring!
